The listeners of Planet Rock Radio have voted for their favourite guitar solo and below are the top 75 songs, starting with number 75. Perhaps surprisingly the most represented band in the list was Metallica with five songs. The most popular guitarists were Ritchie Blackmore with three songs from Deep Purple and two from Rainbow and Slash with four from Guns n Roses and one solo effort.
The 70's proved to be the most popular decade with 32 songs in the countdown. The 80's and 90's both had 16 songs in the list. No surprise really what came out at number one however there is one song that features twice but by different artists which I suppose technically could make it the most popular guitar solo.
